Caring For Your Crystals

Keeping crystals clean is very simple. Just give them a quick bath occasionally. Fill a large coffee mug with warm, soapy water, and another mug with warm water to rinse. Let your crystals soak for a few seconds in the soapy water, then rinse in the clear water. Place your crystals on a small, soft towel or washcloth and gently pat dry to restore the original shine. Repeat with each piece of your lovely Swarovski jewelry. Using any type of abrasives or jewelry cleaners on crystals can cause permanent damage to the beads.

** Use the same care when cleaning our Mothers bracelets that may contain birthstones. Bracelets containing Swarovski crystals should be cleaned by wiping the crystals with a warm, damp cloth and drying them. The rest of the bracelet should be cleaned by polishing with a soft jewelry cloth made for that purpose. Never use liquid jewelry dips in cleaning these bracelets. These liquids will remove  the oxidation that darkens the beautiful beads used to create your bracelet.

Preventing Tarnish ~
Aside from beautiful Bali beads and alphabet block letters, where oxidation can be a desirable effect, oxidation can be a big problem with silver. To keep tarnish at a minimum, keeping your sterling silver jewelry in Ziplock bags is a great idea. This will be a tremendous help in keeping your sterling silver jewelry bright, shiny and ready to wear at a moments notice. A soft, treated polishing cloth will help to rid any small amounts of tarnish that might occur. Gypsy Ribbons includes a small, treated polishing cloth with every, order free of charge, to help keep your jewelry as lovely as the day you purchased it.

About the Swarovski Process

The Daniel Swarovski Company of Austria was founded in 1895. Swarovski excels at making beautiful crystal in many forms. You may be familiar with Swarovski Silver figurines. The silver crystal was so named because of its brilliance and silvery sheen when held up to the light. Crystal is not made with silver though. It's made with lead. The addition of lead to extremely pure glass in the manufacturing process increases the clarity and brilliance. This results in the dazzling product known as crystal. The superior quality of the cutting and polishing of crystal pieces has made Swarovski a world leader in the production of beautiful crystal.
